Benefits

Telkom's DSL access service will provide you with flat rated access to the net over an Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), a modem based technology that turns an ordinary telephone line into a multi-tasking access medium.

High speed flat rated access to the net TelkomDSL offers you high speed downloads with download sync profiles from 256kbps to 4096kbps depending which of the DSL products suits your needs best.

Multi-tasking business tool TelkomInternet powered by DSL turns an ordinary telephone line into a multi-tasking business tool - talk on the phone or send a fax without affecting your bandwidth whilst you're online.

Free installation when opting for Self Install Option (SIO). Self install is available for DSL access customers or as part of the Do Broadband bundled offerings. SIO allows you to take care of the part of the DSL installation that takes place on your premises yourself, enabling you to get service quicker than before. Not only that, but you save R705.20 (VAT inclusive) on the installation fee as well!

The provision of Telkom's DSL access service is subject to Telkom's standard terms and conditions as well as the DSL specific terms and conditions.

• Telkom would therefore advise you not to purchase a DSL modem or upgrade your PC prior to confirmation that service can be provided. Telkom cannot guarantee the bandwidth throughput achieved when you surf the Internet utilizing a DSL access line.
• Telkom accepts no liability for any loss or damage to the property or equipment of the customer arising out of the provision, installation or maintenance of Telkom's DSL access service.
• Telkom cannot guarantee the provision of the requested service upon the receipt of a telephonic or electronic order. You will be formally notified after receipt of an order on whether or not the DSL access service can be provided.
• The provision of Telkom's DSL is subject to network availability, distance, copper quality and line sync speed limitations.
• DSL is an access medium to the Internet or your preferred ISP and will not overcome any bandwidth related constraints within the World Wide Web.
• The Telkom modems are covered by a 12-month carry in guarantee unless it forms part of a 24-month bundled contract in which instance it will be covered by a 24-month carry in guarantee. The above guarantee will only be honored by Telkom provided that the modem and all its components are returned.

DSL Migrations

Customers downgrading from an existing DSL service not on a 24-month contract can opt for any DSL Bundle, and receive a free modem of choice, subject to the signing of a 24 months DSL Bundle Contractual Agreement.

Existing bundle customers can up or downgrade once in a 24 month period and receive a free modem without paying penalties or migration fees.

DSL Free modem Bundled offering Terms and Conditions

The Bundled offering is subject to all of the above terms and conditions as well as the following conditions:

If the customer cancels the service before the 24-month contractual agreement period has lapsed, the customer will be penalized according to a sliding scale for early cancellation penalties, which is equal to R62.19 VAT excl multiplied by the outstanding months of the contract which will be levied on the customers final account.

Whenever a new DSL Bundle Contractual Agreement is entered into, the customer will receive a new FREE WiFi modem with 4 Ethernet ports while stocks last. Customers that prefer a USB modem can opt for one instead of the WiFi modem if available.

Customers subscribed to the 24 month DSL bundled offering remain liable for the penalty under the following conditions where a customer opts to:

• Discontinue the DSL Bundle service prior to the completion of the term of the contractual agreement.
• Transfer the service and retain DSL Bundle, but Telkom is not able to perform the transfer due to a number any reason (i.e. conformance testing failed, exchange is not DSL compatible or due to no infrastructure etc.)
• Where the customer wishes to upgrade his modem, before 18 months has lapsed, the customer will be liable to pay penalties for the remainder of the contractual agreement period. A new contractual agreement for 24 months must be entered into for the customer to receive a new free modem via Telkom Delivery or to be collected at the nearest Telkom Direct Shop.

Where a customer opts to transfer his service and retain the DSL bundle, and Telkom is able to perform the transfer without a number change the customer's Contractual Agreement will not be affected, thus no penalty will apply.

DSL Self Install Option (SIO)

Customers that are unable to do the self installation can contact the DSL helpdesk at 0800 375375. Customers that are unsuccessful with the SIO and still want the service can opt for Telkom technician install, sign a 24-month contract and still receive the modem free of charge but will be liable to pay the R705.20 VAT incl installation fee. Only one (1) free modem per DSL order. The installation fee is payable if a Telkom technician or Telkom appointed contractor is required to complete the installation. An installation is deemed completed once the customers modem is installed and the service is demonstrated to be in working order on the technicians test equipment. Telkom technicians are not required to install the customers personal computer but will demonstrate that the service is working on a test laptop or similar equipment.

VDSL

Telkom's Internet high speed broadband products of up to 20Mbps and up to 40Mbps respectively are only available at selected areas. Combine these with Telkom Internet High Capped and Uncapped products and you will experience a higher quality broadband service that will enhance your Internet experience.

VDSL up to 20Mbps and up to 40Mbps is currently available in the following areas:

• Benmore Gardens, Fourways and Waterkloof in Gauteng.
• Durban North in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
• Durbanville in Western Cape.
